About

Marie is my main fursona and the main character of THRIVE IN SPITE. They are an artist living in a small apartment. They are best friends with Gloria and Charlotte.

Personality
Marie is kind, shy, aloof, and optimistic. Creative and curious, they get restless if they haven't made or learnt anything new recently. Their belief in hope and knowlege often drives them to do whats right for anyone, even those she dislikes.

Their perfectionism, dissociation, and anxiety frequently causes burnout and unreliablity. They put a lot of work into being a better person and healing from trauma. Nowadays they show a more affectionate, supportive, and honest side to their personality.

Physically
Marie is a short, chubby, and casually dressed housecat with a bobbed tail. They have many birthmarks speckled across their body, as well as several scars and a permanent leg injury resulting in a slight limp. Their fashion is a mix of alternative styles with a preference for comfort and soft natural colors.

Likes
Marie likes art, animation, fashion, gardening, minecraft, the colors green and pink, coffee, iced tea, fruit, veggies, palentology, cryptids, frogs, and rock, electronic, and folk music.

Dislikes
They dislike hot and humid weather, bright lights, loud noises, hot sauce, avacados, driving, artblock, and willful ignorance/incuriousness.

Design Notes

Ear notch on their left (our right) ear.
Eyes are brown, with an optional pink flower accent/highlight
Lips, nose, and paw pads are blue-ish black. Tongue and inner mouth is typical pink.
Birthmarks on face are not optional, body birthmarks don't have to be exact.
Nails are often painted pink or black.

Relationships

Gloria

Best Friend/Crush

Met in highschool. Initially didn't get along, but eventually became good friends. Gloria confided a lot in Marie, but Marie couldn't open up to her in return yet.

After reuniting, Marie works hard to make up the lost time with her and they become the closest they've ever been. Marie has a crush on Gloria, but they have no intentions to confess and never expects Gloria to feel the same.

Charlotte

Best Friend

Met in highschool and became good friends. Marie was Charlotte's original #1 fan and supported her and her dreams of being a musician. Charlotte was one of the only people Marie felt accepted by back then.

After reuniting, they were both relieved that the other was safe and went back to being friends as if no time had passed.

Maeve

Shadow/Former Imaginary Friend

Marie's shadow come to life. They were inseparable as kids and considered each other their only friends. Eventually they fell out due to an amalgam of resentment, misunderstandings, and misguided blame once Marie made other friends.

Currently they have an increasingly strained relationship, but Marie hopes someday Maeve will give her the chance to be friends again.
