About

Maeve is one of my fursonas and the antagonist of THRIVE IN SPITE. They live in an abandoned apartment and spend most of their time alone or with their friend Travis.

Personality
Maeve is moody, rebellious, stubborn, and unusual. Most people are intimidated by them and find their interests bizarre. Maeve is nocturnal and is often sleepy. They are fiercely protective of their loved ones.

A pessimist, Maeve is disconnected from others, and is prone to paranoia and aggression. They struggle with their identity as a person and not having a purpose to someone. They are initally very secretive about their origins even with friends.

Physically
Maeve is short, fat, and wears gothic clothing. They are a black binturong with grey eyes and very long purple hair. Their fur is long and fluffy, with tuffs on their ears and sholders. Their clothes are tattered and often falling apart.

Shadow Abilities
Maeve is a living shadow, an amorphous entity with a physical presence. She doesn't require eating or sleeping, but she finds herself doing so anyways. Their abilities include increased strength, a supersonic glass-shattering scream, and traveling through shadows across distances.

Likes
Maeve likes the moon, cryptids, oddities, paranormal, ARGs, rock and goth music, emo fashion, halloween, snow, insects (especially moths and spiders), stripes, and horror.

Dislikes
They dislike authority, peer pressure, strangers, suprises, and overly optimistic people.

Design Notes

• Hair is very long (between thigh, knee, or ankle length, depending on the art), curly/wavy, and purple with black visible roots.
• Teeth are sharp! Lower canine teeth often poke out of mouth.
• Has dark heart cheek markings, a light muzzle, and a dark forhead stripe.
• Optional eyebrow and nose piercings.
• Tail is prehensile and very fluffy.

Relationships

Marie

Former Childhood Friend

They were inseparable as kids and considered each other their only friends. Maeve fiercely protected both of them from anyone who might hurt them. Eventually they fell out due to Marie wanting to move on and Maeve's misguided blame and resentment.

Currently they have an increasingly strained relationship, due to Maeve's lack of identity outside of protecting Marie. Maeve doesn't want to move on, instead wishing to find a way to go back to the way they were before they split into two.

Travis

Best Friend

Crossed paths during their night walks, and Travis eventually struck up a conversation. Despite Maeve's best efforts, Travis sensed her lonliness and kept tagging along with her. Secretly, Maeve enjoys his company.

Maeve latches onto Travis as another person to protect, which has both good and bad results for both of them. They both feel a bond due to their indivudial toxic pasts, and Maeve feels like Travis may be one of the only people who will understand them.

Lonnie

Friend

Met through a series of by-chance circumstances that led Maeve to help the THRIVE IN SPITE band. During band pratice, Maeve accidentally revealed a piece of their past in frustration. Lonnie offered acceptance and music as an outlet for Maeve's feelings.

Maeve doesn't know how to feel about Lonnie yet, and often avoids her. In truth, Maeve avoids friendships in the first place, so they never be hurt or abandoned later on.
